Meg walked into the Amber dorm room where she had been told to go to, since that was where she was going to be staying. She was wearing a green short sleeve shirt, blue jeans with a rip on the knee, and a pair of green flip-flops on her feet. Her brown hair with blonde highlights was down at the moment, and reached down to her upper back. A few pieces of her hair were in her face. As she walked into the room, she was watching her feet in her flipflops.
Meg looked up as she went into the room, and looked around. She saw no one in there yet, and she shrugged lightly. 'Probably they haven't came yet,' she thought to herself as she looked around the empty room. It was an entertainment room. She walked over to a hallway, and looked down it, not seeing anyone. She shrugged again, and walked over to a couch in the room. She sat down on it, and then looked down at her feet.

Save for a few lonely sounded footsteps, it was otherwise silent. Dawn was glad, thinking that she was the first one here, and entered the room boldly. To her dismay, there was already a girl in the room, seated upon the only couch.
She stood a moment, pondering. Dawn was exhausted. The violet, velvet exterior of the soft piece of furniture was too much for the dark blonde to resist. Face tight and with a weak smile, she parked herself quietly but comfortably a cushion away from the brunette.
After awhile, the quiet was too much for her to bear, and blushing terribly Dawn managed a squeaky, "Hey there," to the other.

As Meg was waiting to see if anyone was going to come into the entertainment room, she took out a sketchpad from her pocket. She loved sketching and painting, and usually carried around it with her. Of course, during classes, she used her notebooks for doodling if she was incredibly bored. She wasn't bored with every class, but some classes had their moments where she was incredibly bored, where she'd just flip to a different page, and then begin to doodle a bit.
Meg was starting to fix up a sketch in her pad, when she noticed a girl walk into the room. She smiled lightly to herself. 'Atleast I'm not the only one in this dorm,' she thought to herself. She liked to have atleast some form of company. She could deal with out it, but she would atleast appriciate some company on ocassion. She noticed that the girl wasn't saying anything, and she just continued to sketch in her pad. She figured not to disrupt the girl, for the girl seemed to be shy.
Meg figured to allow the girl to talk first, so that way she wouldn't annoy the girl if she would rather be alone. After a while of her sketching, the girl finally said something squeakily. By the way the girl sounded, she believed that the girl wasn't the type to talk a lot. She looked up at the girl, and smiled friendly to the girl to show her not to be embarassed or anything. "Hi," she replied back. "I'm Megan, and you are?" she asked her, still smiling.

Seeing the other smile boosted Dawn's spirits a bit. Maybe after all this time, she was finally beginning to master the feared and complicated art of small talk.
"I'm Dawn," she replied, also with a smile, though obviously strained. While she might be slightly improved with the actual words, the blonde had a long ways to go before she could control her body and facial expressions.
Instinctively, the sixteen year old reached out her hand as if to shake the others, then quickly remembered that she only needed to perform that curious greeting with adults! Other kids were fine without touching. But it was a little late now.
She pretended like she had simply been stretching; something she had often done and found very useful in class when her hand had accidentally gone up when she hadn't known the answer.
"Sorry," Dawn said, feeling her face go hot as a scarlet color crept across it. "It was a long flight, and I'm still feeling a little cramped, y'know?"
The lies came easily enough. The blonde fatale added two more reaching gestures; one directly above her and the other directly below, before cautiously settling back into her section of the sofa.

Meg set the sketch pad down on her lap, and placed the pencil on top of it. She knew that it would be rude of her to continue to sketch while talking to the girl. She could tell that the girl wasn't really that much of a talker, and figured that it would leave off a bad impression. So, she'd hold off of it for now.
Meg smiled again to Dawn. "It's a pleasure to meet you Dawn," she said to her. Dawn was the only person that she met so far that was in the Amber dorm. Well, make that, she knew that her brother was in it too. However, she had never met Dawn before, so she truely was the first one she met, but not the first one she knew of. She knew that it wasn't really that big of a deal, but it was the truth.
Meg noticed that the other girl attempted to hold out her hand to shake. She smiled lightly at the jesture, supressing her giggles. She could tell that the girl really didn't have that many social interactions. She watched as the girl attempted to make it look like she had just been stretching, which was obviously incorrect.
Meg smiled again. "I know what you meant, and it's all right with me," she replied with a soft giggle. She streched out her own hand to the girl to shake. She wasn't uncomfortable with the jesture or anything. She didn't mind it at all anyway. "Did you just arrive here?" she asked, trying to start a conversation.

So they shook hands here after all!
Dawn was embarrassed by her sweaty palms, and tried to wipe it on the fabric of the back of her olive skirt causally by shifting leg positions entirely. She hoped that it appeared as if she had pulled her slender legs up beneath her so that she could reach the other's hand, when it reality it would have been much easier to simply lean forward. A little skeptical, the blonde prayed that this hadn't been a result of her earlier action. Because then Megan would think that she was some kind of immature kid, not wanting to greet her with a hand shake like grown-ups did. . .
Now Dawn shook her head. She was taking it all wayyyy too far. "Just relax, girl," she told herself in her aunt's voice. "Be calm and you'll be just fine." The young lady agreed with the advice. She would save the over-analyzing for details in her stories.
Two deep breaths and a moment and a half after Meg had asked her question, Dawn responded with, "Yeah." Then elaborated: "The flight came in around noon, and I came straight here, checked in, . . . hey by the way, what time is it now anyway?"
It was true that the straw-haired female was wearing a silver watch, but it had been broken a long time ago . . . not that it would be in the correct time-zone anyhow.

Meg smiled over at Dawn. She figured that the girl was very nervous, and shy. Of course, the nervousness didn't help at all with the shy part. But, oh well. That was just how some people were. Nothing to do, but to try to help them.
Meg didn't mind shaking the girl's hand like a grown-up. Any introduction was fine with her, but since the girl originally offered it, she did it. She wasn't one to be rude to some one or anything like that. She liked to be friendly to others, and to be their friend. Of course, if that were to happen, that would mean that both of them must act friendly towards each other. On the contrary, if someone was mean to her, then she'd be mean right back. That was just the way she was.
Meg looked over at Dawn, and nodded lightly at her answer. "My flight came in earlier than yours, like about eleven, or eleven thirty," she replied. She looked up at a clock that was on the wall. "One-ish," she replied.

Dawn chuckled. "I didn't even see the clock," she confessed, smiling. For the first time, the girl really looked over the room.
It was large enough, but judging by the pool table, multiple chairs, over-sized plant sitting in a crusty pot in the corner, plus the couch she was currently resting upon, it was some kind of entertainment room.
"So, wait," Dawn began, standing up and picking up her giant bag as she did so. "If this isn't our bedroom, where is?"
Comically scratching her head and not even aware of it, the blonde turned in a full circle. Aside from the portal which she had entered through, there were two doors, neither of them labeled. One happened to be on the west side of the room, and the other north. The dark wood looked thick, and probably expensive too. Dawn imagined how loud they would sound while she was lying down, trying to sleep, and some newly broken heart ran around slamming every door she could find in the face of every person she knew.
Joy.
After going 360 degrees, the fatale was right back at the causally dressed brunette. Dawn eyed the rip in her jean leg here. She was extremely envious, but didn't say anything. She wished she owned clothes she could spare to rip, but not being much of a shopper or a spender, Dawn's wardrobe was more than lacking. Maybe sometime she would work up her courage and make Meg take her shopping some afternoon.
"Which should we try first, Megan? Or you were in here when I got in. Are you waiting for someone?" Dawn asked, tilting her head to the right.

Meg smiled, and looked up at the clock again. She looked back down, and laughed lightly. "Yeah, well, I was in here for a while so I was able to have a good look around," she stated with a laugh. It was true, she had been in there for a while. She had only recently took out the sketch pad when the girl got there. Otherwise, she had been looking around the room at everything that it had.
Meg looked over at Dawn, now standing up too. She took hold of two suitcases that she had. "Oh, those," she replied with a small shrug. "No idea," she replied. She honestly had no idea where the bed rooms were. The only room out of the entire building that she saw was the entertainment room. That was it. She looked over at the two doors that were not labeled, and shrugged lightly to herself. It seemed rather odd to her.
Meg noticed after a few seconds that Dawn was looking at her. Actually, staring at her would be a better word choice. She didn't say anything as she just took it as if the blonde was thinking. Despite this, she didn't really mind if people looked at her. Oh sure, she didn't like singing in front of people or anything, but that had nothing to do with the fact of people looking at her, nor did it have anything to do with stage frieght. She just thought that everyone would laugh or something at her. That was all.
Meg shrugged lightly. "I assumed that someone was going to come in and show use our rooms. Make that, I have no idea how the rooms are or anything," she replied. "I'm not waiting for anyone though, just waiting for someone to talk to," she said with a smile to the girl. She wanted to be Dawn's friend, and hoped that she felt the same way.
Meg looked over, between the two doors, and shrugged again. "I'll assume that they're wings. Either one is fine with me," she stated to her with another shrug.

Aside from the ticking of the clock, the room was quiet. Dawn felt torn. Between many things actually.
Should she and Megan wait for some kind of staff member to show them around? Of course, everybody was moving in right around now. More than likely all staff personnel would be helping others or setting up the classrooms or other important business. But if they picked the wrong door, they might get in trouble. Dawn had just arrived, and wanted to keep her record clean at least until after the first week.
She wished that Meg had just decided which door to go through; it would have shifted the responsibility onto her shoulders, and Dawn would be able to breathe a little easier. Should the dame push it, insisting that the brown and sun-kissed haired girl choose?
Then, of course, there was the decision of which door to take. North or east?
Dawn twirled a strand of hair 'round and 'round her finger while bitting her lip, pondering. The ticking was getting louder and more obnoxious with each passing second. Taking a step backwards, both physically and mentally, she came to the conclusion that in the big picture of life, it really didn't matter. There was nothing symbolic here; this wasn't one of her novels or daydreams. In real life, real people didn't care. So what did that make her?
Copying the brunette's gesture, Dawn shrugged and grabbed the handle of the closest door; the one to the north. As she was turning the knob and pushing against the wood with her shoulder, she craned her neck over her other shoulder and nodded sideways, motioned for Meg to follow.
"C'mon, maybe we can get bunks next to each other," she offered with a smile, though her eyebrows were slanted off her face, showing a twinge of uneasy. What if Megan wanted nothing to do with her, and was putting up with her only because she pitied her? But the fatale was ever hopeful. Though it might be a tad too soon to tell, Dawn felt she had already made a bit of a friend.
